Biking / Scribd Audiobook Coincidence Number 4

My current bouting book (thanks, Scribd) is Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami, which I am enjoying immensely.  (I'm sorry to say that I have yet to finish a Murakami book.  I was reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and really getting into it, but it got to something so gross and disgusting that I put it down and never picked it up again.)  Today's "reading" included a description of a character's cell phone ring as being a snippet of Elvis's "Viva Las Vegas."  There was also a bit of chat about the movie / song accompanying that detail.  Three hours later I walked into Barnes and Noble and headed for the magazine racks.  As I settled into position, two of the employees walked by, and one said to the other, "I love Elvis.  "Viva Las Vegas" is my jam."

I almost commented here last week, but I didn't perhaps out of a sense of ruth that I had not experienced such a feeling in some time. But I have to tonight after I had my own moment of synchronicity. I'll spare you the tedium of details; suffice it to say that the song "Positively 4th Street" leapt (why is this word and the word "ruth" underlined with a squiggly red mark?) upon me after a recent harrowing experience with an old friend.
Maybe we all deal with synchronicity from time to time, but I, like you, take special note of such occasions. I accept I may just be full of shit, but I have always understood these experiences as a sign that I am where I should be. This feeling doesn't belong to any theology or cosmology I subscribe to, but it's an intense feeling nonetheless that seems to indicate I believe in something beyond pure absurdity and randomness.
I wonder if you have any use for Carl Jung or see a reason to use the word synchronicity instead of (or as well as) coincidence.
Sorry for the barrage awhile back about Chris Hedges. He has occupied too much space in my brain for too long. I came to understand that the problem was that I had put him up on a pedestal, and there is no place to go from there but crashing down. Love in the past gave me a similar bitter taste. Apotheosis is a dangerous thing.
I've been burdened deep of late with work and life. Hope we can get together again soon, dear friend. Until then, keep up the good work. I appreciate my daily fix of Brother K.

Ah, thank ye, brother.

I'd like to hear the details of the P 4 St. Experience, though. Synchronicity is a better word, for sure, and I don't know why my love of Jung didn't bring that term to the fore of my consciousness.

And no apologies for Chris comments. I appreciated the information and the exchange with you. It is dangerous to put people on pedestals, I suppose, but we do need somebody to look up to, so it seems inevitable.

And yes, let's get together asap!

Ruth leapt. Hmm, my Kindle didn't object to either.
