1971

I'm watching an extra on the 1971 dvd, which is a panel discussion featuring some of the folks involved in the FBI break-in (the subject of the movie)  as they are today . . . and Edward Snowden via Skype.

Which, of course, has got me thinking about Mr. Snowden. He seems so eminently rational. So intelligent. So gentle, even. It's very hard for me to be objective about him. It seems so obvious that he is a good man who was willing to Do the Right Thing . . . despite the fact that he knew it would put him into a really bad spot.

But I have to admit that despite having seen several interviews--including the Citizenfour movie--I really don't have a clear understanding of what he did and why he did it. Which is kind of embarassing.

So I'm going to try to remedy that. Free Public Library, here I come.

Meanwhile, I'm going to have a look at this 1971 movie. It's another First Run Features documentary. In fact, I happened upon 1971 because there was a trailer for it on another FRF movie I saw recently--probably 42 Up. FRF kicks ass. In fact, there were six trailers on this dvd, and I really want to see all six of those movies, too. Good thing I spend an hour a day on my stationary bike, huh? My continuing education.

More news as it happens.
