Talk about a topical song. I was watching the documentary Shakespeare Was a Big George Jones Fan: Cowboy Jack Clement's Home Movies, and at one point Cowboy Jack took the stage and started singing a song entitled "Ready For the Times to Get Better." It immediately caught my ear, so I looked into it. Found out that it had been written by Allen Reynolds, and that it had been a big hit for Crystal Gayle in 1978. I wanted to do my own version, so I tracked down the chords and had at it. My first version was a hyper punked up thing which I really liked, but my meager skills as a musician were struggling to put it together, so I took a break and did a low key version...which I ended up liking quite a bit. So here's that...dedicated to all of you folks out there who are feeling scared and a little crazy because of all the shit going down right now.
