Dark Knights of Steel #1 was out, but nowhere to be found the shelves of The Great Escape. No doubt copies will reappear next week or so. I might even make a side trip to The Destination...though I expect they'll be all out as well. Also Sir Not Appearing In This Film was Static: Season One #4, which is now listed for next week. Either Milestone is constantly late on its books or League of Comic Geeks is just not a reliable source of information. (Pretty, though. Although it has some navigation issues. Like if you skip up a couple of weeks to see what's coming and click on something to get the details, when you go back it won't send you to the page you were on previously, but to the Current Week page. Which is frustrating.) So we'll see how that goes.
Left the store with two comics:
Icon and Rocket Season One #4 was most delightful. I wasn't too sure about this book after reading the first issue, but it has built itself into a title I really enjoy immensely now. I would be very upset knowing that there are only two more issues coming if I didn't also know that there's going to be a Season Two. In this issue, we get to see some of the consequences of Icon and Rocket's war against drugs...and how it brings about chaos and disaster. Also looks like it's going to bring about a serious ass kicking for I&R next issue. But we'll see how that goes. Icon takes some big lumps in #4, but Rocket has turned into a very serious threat on her own terms, so they make a formidable team. Note to Milestone Editors: You really need to have a story entitled "Love & Rocket" in the near future.
Suicide Squad #8 brought more Ambush Bug meta-comics commentary, and that always works for me. So far as I can tell this is going to be it for the Bug in SS, so I'll probably be leaving this book now, but I'll have a peek at #9 just to make sure. I waited so long to pick this issue up that it will be out in another week or two at the most. As for this issue...the team goes to Hell for a throw down. Which seems immensely silly to me, and I probably wouldn't put up with it if not for the presence of Ambush Bug. But his character can make almost anything palatable.
Next Week's Comics:
Action Comics #1036 League of Comics Geeks had this to say about this issue: "THE WARWORLD SAGA BEGINS! After learning of an enslaved race with mysterious ties to Krypton, Superman and the Authority travel across the galaxy to dethrone the new Mongul and liberate Warworld. Introducing new characters and a new corner of the DC Universe, the biggest Superman event since the Death and Return of Superman begins HERE!" (https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/2089118/action-comics-1036) I like to check in on Action regularly anyway, so this looks like my cup of tea.
What's the Furthest Place From Here? #1 Looks interesting...though I couldn't tell you a thing about it. I'll have a peek...assuming I can remember to do that.
Mamo #5 <sob> last issue! If you haven't yet tried this issue, come on down. If you have access to Hoopla, you can read issues 1 - 4 in their entirety for free. I did that, but loved the book so much that I bought paper copies for the long haul.
Regarding the Matter of Oswald's Body #1 The title is interesting enough in and of itself, but the cover really kicks ass, so I'll need to take a look at this.
I'd also like to have a look at Clans of Belari. Saw issue #4 on the stands today and it looked interesting, but I didn't want to hop in on #4, and was hoping that Hoopla would help me out on that. Unfortunately there was no sign of it, but sometimes you have to be patient about these things.
