It was Jacqueline's idea to see it, but I have to admit that I loved Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris. So much so that I watched it a second time a bit after seeing it in the theater. (And not just because of the beauteous Alba Baptista, but...YOWZA, that is some woman.) And then I found a paperback copy of the novel which I read to Jacqueline. It was delightful. Even better than the movie, actually. For one thing, we didn't get the Happy New Dress ending, and got something that felt much more substantial. (No spoilers from me.)
And then I found out that there were three more Mrs 'Arris novels. It took awhile before I have found something in my price range, but I finally happened upon this (👆) lovely omnibus which had all four novels.
We started Mrs Harris Goes to Paris (aka Flowers for Mrs Harris) on April 5, 2024. We finished Mrs Harris Goes to Moscow just the other day--March 17, 2025. 11 1/2 months sounds like an awfully long time for four novels, but we only read 3 or 4 pages a night, so...not bad. (It was fun, too.)
Okay. Have to go watch the movie again. Might watch the old Angela Lansbury version, too. (It's available on YouTube, btw.)
