I'm not nor have I ever been a fan of Amazon's "Cool Cat" commercial. And although I'm loathe to admit it, that was partially due to the fact that I just didn't get it. (It was also partially due to the fact that I really don't like people who are so starved for attention that they feel the need to act the way the person in this commercial acted in the second half.)
I finally Googled it, just to see what was going on. Turns out it's a young woman who is bothered by her facial hair, and after attempts to get rid of it, she realizes her heroes (Eddie Murphy, Frida Kahlo, Freddy Mercury) all have moustaches. So she embraces her facial hair, orders lots of shit from Amazon, and becomes a dancing fool.
So that cleared THAT up.
I was also stunned to find out that the "Cool Cat" song was by Queen. I wouldn't have guessed that. And then found out that David Bowie had done some vocals for the song which got to a test pressing...then decided he didn't like them and had them pulled.
But this is the 21st Century, so....
