There's been no abatement in my Alessandro Scarlatti fixation, despite the fact that I've gotten a dozen cds of his music from the local library and am reading my way through a book about his life and his work. Which forced me to to keep returning to the Amazon page wherein I saw the 30 disc Alessandro Scarlatti Collection 1 for a mere $60. Not the best price I'd found...Presto Music had it for $51 --but they also had a $15 shipping fee, which negated that gain, and when I tried to add other items to get to free shipping, the shipping price just kept going up, so clearly they didn't do that. So with great reluctance, I wound my way back to Amazon, determined to hit the buy button. And then I saw
Fuckin' Amazon!
So no way in hell I was going to buy it from them. I went back to Presto Music and was about to do the deed, then decided to do One More Search to see if there was any other option. At which point I stumbled upon The Julliard School's Julliard Store, and this:
I didn't look to find out how much their shipping cost was (although even if it was $15 it still would have been cheaper than Amazon's earlier good price) because they (1) had free shipping for orders over $75 and (2) they had another item that I wanted. Which is the reason that the webiste is now showing SOLD OUT...because I bought the last one.
So to review: Amazon price $74.68. Julliard price $45. Net gain for me $29.68. Which came within a couple of bucks of making my second Julliard Store item free in the Amazon context.
