Songs For the Dead

I was excited to see that Vault Comics was releasing a new issue of Songs For the Dead (Songs For the Dead: Afterlife),but what with this and that (and as a single parent if two autistic adult children there's a lot of this, and no lack of that), I missed getting to The Great Escape for a few weeks, and when I finally got there yesterday, there was neither hide nor hair of the book. So I asked erstwhile manager Krystal if she could order it for me. Bad sign: she'd never heard of the book; but good sign, she found it on her computer and ordered a copy for me. I was a little taken aback at the price--$7.99--but asked her to order it for me anyway.

When I got home, however, I started to wonder if the book would be cheaper on ComiXology. Purely as a matter of curiosity, as I'd never back out of an order I'd requested. Besides which, now that ComiXology has been taken over by Amazon, I'd only order from them if there was no other choice.

Well. Turns out the ComiXology price was the same, but when that information came up, there was also a link to the previous (2nd Volume) series of Songs For the Dead...for a mere

And then I checked for the first collection, and

So let me get this straight...I can buy 288 pages of this most excellent series for $8? I've already GOT all of those pages since I have the trade paperback for Volume 1 (see above) and bought the four issues of Volume 2 as they came out...and I still found myself wanting to buy the E-versions at that price. 

But...Amazon?

And then I had a thought. Maybe Vault Comics sold its own e-comics? They're so tiny that I thought probably not, but had a look anyway, and

So you don't even have to pay extra (which I would be willing to do) to help out the little guy.

So there you gave it. Read Songs For the Dead on the cheap today! It's good, character-driven fantasy / sword & sorcery stuff, the art is charming,  and it's actually pretty realistic in the ways that count.
