CNN is still pretty much my go-to news source . . . though I am not nearly as happy with it as I used to be, and I do flip through MSNBC, FOX, and OAN as well. This morning I was watching New Day Saturday with Victor Blackwell and Christi Paul, and my ears perked up when I heard the unmistakable (and most assuredly not dulcet) tones of Jack Kingston's voice.
I am, as you may have noticed if you've visited this site before, not a Trump fan. Jack Kingston is an apologist for Trump . . . (and as far as I'm concerned that puts him at least one notch down from The Donald in the Circles of Hell schema) . . . so I am never inclined to like what he has to say, much less to take his side.
And in some ways, this morning was no different. Most being the key word here. The segment was centered on one Professor Daniel Ziblatt, who, with Steven Levitsky had written a book entitled How Democracies Die.
I immediately liked Professor Daniel and I'm betting that his book is right up my alley. But at one point Jack Kingston asked The Professor about something Barack Obama had said . . . something about bringing a gun to a knife fight--you know, The Untouchables line. And instead of telling Jack, "No, that line is not in the book," and then going on to explain why it wasn't . . . or maybe even admitting that it should have been in a book which (I think) examines inappropriate political language . . . Professor Daniel instead just avoided the question. And by avoided, I mean he refused to answer.
Well . . . I hate that shit. It's cowardly. So even though I really liked Professor Daniel Ziblatt . . . and even though I'm still interested in his book . . . and even though I really don't like Jack Kingston . . . I'm calling bullshit on the liberal guy on this one.
Face north, Jack. We don't win any battles by doing the same cowardly shit that the other side does.
