Whilst seeking to find The Complete Recordings of Louis Armstrong and Joseph Nathan "King" Oliver, I eventually happened upon a website entitled The Hot Club of New York. It had a most wonderful page which not only listed each of the sessions Armstrong and Oliver had together, but also listed the personnel who played, the location and date of the session, and then...most wondrously...had not only a listing of the tracks recorded at that session, but also a link you could click to listen to each song.
And there are plenty of other playlists as well. Type in a name, get a list of sessions, click on an arrow and whoa whoa whoa, listen to the music.
It's fabulous.
While I was poking around the website I couldn't help but notice that there were pictures of Hot Club members wearing very cool T-shirts. I also saw a notation that said if you joined the club, you got a free T-shirt.
Well. I wanted that T-shirt.
So I took a look at the membership information.
Hmm. So did that mean that I could join for a month, get a T-shirt, and then part ways? Seemed like. But $8.99 for a T-shirt didn't seem fair, and I certainly didn't want to take advantage of the people who had hoisted this lovely Jazz Flag. On the other hand, $99.99 for a year's membership was a bit too stiff for me...and I know myself well enough to know that as much as I was entranced by the group and its website, a few months from now I would have moved on to other things.
But then I finally found the listing that I knew had to be there somewhere:
I'm pretty shy about buying things from unknown sources on the internet, so I was hesitant about filling in my information before I got to the pay page to see if they had PayPal, but I went along and...Yes! PayPal!
So coming soon to a chest near me:

They also have a very nice looking tote bag for $20
...and some 78 records at VERy reasonable prices...from $1 to $15, with most of them in-between. I don't know what the shipping cost would be there, but the T-shirt was only $3.48, so unlike Tom Selleck, I think you can trust these guys.
So...if you're looking for some cool jazz stuff, pay 'em a visit.
