Coincidence...or Something Else?

I finished reading Dostoyevsky's The Idiot this morning...about 12 hours ago. I have a dozen books I've been meaning to get to when I had the time, and I picked up one of them a minute ago...The Bullet Swallower by Elizabeth Gonzalez James. 

I read the quite entrancing 9 page Prologue, then turned the page to find this:
