This is a Poem That Heals Fish by Jean-pierre Siméon & Olivier Tallec

I can't remember when or where I ran across this book, but the title alone was enough to sell me.

Still there is more.

Check out this lovely cover, for instance:

Hmmm? Apples? You like?

Me, too.

Still there is more.

The art (by Olivier Sorman) is very cool, and the colors are so bright that they fairly snap in the wind like a freshly starched flag. Kind of reminds me of Gauguin (without being very much like Gauguin at all).

Still there is more.

The story itself is interesting, as young Arthur, fearing that his fish is dying of boredom, goes in search of a poem to save poor Leon's life.

Still there is more.

There are really great, weird lines about what poetry is, such as,

"A poem . . . is when you are in love and have the sky in your mouth."

Now, I don't know if those apples are to your liking, but you've got to admit that that is some smoking hot shit, right?

I love this book.

It's available CHEAP on Amazon. Hell, I just found a new copy for $1.99 with no tax, free shipping. And Amazon's new is a steal at $15.62 if you don't trust those second tier merchants.

Or you could do what I do and get it from the library . . . but I really need my own copy now, so you might want to skip the intermediary step and just go for it.

Mmm-hmmm.

Until then, think on this:

"A poem is when words beat their wings. It is a song sung in a cage."
