Mourning Joe

The boys & the girls are chortling on Morning Joe this morning. They seem to be giddy . . . presumably at the prospect of the tsunami of shit hitting Donald Trump's fan of late.

When I turned on and tuned in to the show, Joe was berating Trump for saying that Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, who killed 8 people in New York City and injured 11 more, should get the death penalty.

Hmm.

Joe started in on this by saying that in America the presumption of innocence is sacrosanct. 

Well, I love Joe, but I have to call bullshit on that one. There's video of Saipov in the act of committing this horrendous crime. He's confessed . . . hell, he's bragged . . . about what he's done. So calling for a presumption of innocence is just idiotic. It's the kind of ideological blindness that gives liberals a deservedly bad name.

The rest of the folks piled onto the downed Trump from there, and I'm not sure who said what, but it was pretty much what you'd expect: Trump was not acting presidential, of course. Then somebody make the point that Trump could be accused of poisoning a jury against Saipov, and had, therefore, helped the terrorist. Now, I know nothing about how the law works, so there could well be truth to that one. But . . . isn't anyone who has turned on the television news is the last few days already "poisoned" against the guy?

I never thought I would utter (so to speak) these words, but I feel compelled to say that I'm with Trump on this one. And I think that my beloved Morning Joe team is not being fair to You-Know-Who. They're allowing their righteous ire against Trump to flow into this channel just because it is opportune. Which means that they are actually exploiting the terror attack to further their own political ends. 

Which is unacceptable.

And as for their ire . . . . Apparently it did not run too deep, as a few minutes later the entire group was chortling over their favorite scenes from the movie Anchorman. Hmm. I don't think any of them were acting very punditential. 

I think I'll go see what's happening on One America News today.
