Hmm... then what is the ideal "master" of ourselves? Compassion? Love? You said once that getting angry isn't always a bad thing because it shows what you really believe in, so doesn't that emotion evoke our real selves?

Good question there, brother. I'd have to say that the key aspect of the quote is the phrase "gets hold"--in my mind that differentiates between you using your anger and your anger controlling you. I'd say that the ideal master is compassion, and that compassion will sometimes have to use anger to accomplish its task.
