Humpty
Dumpty
. . . .
Breaking News:
Wow . . . I guess great minds really do think alike. I posted this here and on Facebook January 5, 2017. I did a few other Humpty Trumpty posts, and sent a poem with that title to The New Yorker (I know, high hopes, rubber tree plant, etc.). And today (3/5/17) I heard a Trump spokeswoman say something even more asinine that the usual asininity, and thought I'd use my Humpty With Hair picture that I'd used previously, so I Googled Humpty Trumpty, just to see if it would come up on my blog entry, and was astounded to see that one of the hits was a John Cole cartoon published on Cagle.com entitled Humpty Trumpty, and featuring a drawing of Trump sitting atop a wall talking to a little girl and reciting the same first paragraph of the Alice in Wonderland quote I used above, the only difference being that Mr. Cole added the line, "But they are very, very great words, believe me." I have to confess that my first thought was that I'd been ripped off. But unless Mr. Cole has a time machine, that's not possible, as his cartoon was published on September 3, 2016. And I had not seen his cartoon before now, so I was not the ripper either. Just, you know. Great minds. Alike they think.
