Case in Point

I just finished reading Issue #174 of The Walking Dead.

You know what I love about this comic book?

Everything.

Every fuckin' thing.

Case in point, Issue #174.

There's a cool cover.
There's a title page with a three sentence summary of what's happened previously.
There are 24 story pages.
There are four pages of letters and responses.
There's an ad for a Walking Dead downloadable game on the inside back cover.
There's an ad for a different downloadable game on the back cover.
And it costs $2.99.

Now it is a black and white comic book, granted, but still . . . there is nowhere else where you can get that kind of bang for your buck in the comic book world.

And speaking of bang . . . it's a really good story. I don't want to go into any detail here, of course, but let me just let this paw reach out of the bag for one swipe: Maggie and Negan have a conversation.
Mmm-hmmm.

And the art is top-notch, too.

Now, this week I only had two new comic books--the other being Deadman. But even on weeks when I a dozen comic books, I always read The Walking Dead first. Because I'm that anxious to know what happens next. And it has been that way for YEARS. Literally. And I mean that literally.

The only way that this comic book could be better would be if it came out weekly.

Just sayin', sir.
