Couldn't help but notice that Comixology was having a Big Star Wars Sale. And it was looking really good, actually. Like lots of those $3.99 books were up for 99¢. And I've read a few of these new Marvel Star Wars books (mostly courtesy of the library, though I did buy a few when they first came out), and I thought they were pooty good. Just not enough bang for the buck for me . . . plus it's not usually too hard to put your hands on Star Wars comic books, y'know. They're about as high profile as you can get.
Even so, I look over those SALE and RECENTLY REDUCED pages on Comixology pretty carefully,
Poe Dameron issues 1 through 19 for a mere 99¢ each. For a grand total of $18.81. That's pretty amazing. But wait . . . they also offer collected editions (does that really mean anything in the age of the e-comic?)--three volumes which include issues 1 through 19 for $2.99, $3.99, and $7.99, and a grand total of $14.97 . . . which is even more amazing. BUT WAIT! Because I looked on Amazon, and if you buy via Kindle (which is the same thing as Comixology these days), you can get those same three volumes for 99¢ 1 + 99¢ + $6.50, and a grand total of $8.48, and a per issue cost of less than 45¢. Um . . . WHAT? How did that happen? Dunno, but I think ahmo get me some Poe Dameron from Kindle. If that sounds like a good idea to you, you should probably do it now. I've found out through experience that these things do not last long.
1 I know, I know--I thought it was a mistake, too. But I bought it and checked it before posting, just to be sure, and it was for real. Six issues for 99¢.
