The Transcendent

"It is [...] in the flight towards his true self that man discovers the Transcendent."

"Theistic Existentialism"
A History of Philosophy Volume 11: Logical Positivism and Existentialism
by Fr. Frederick Copleston

Well...that's some good shit, ennit?

Also seems to me that this is the antidote to that every man is a prisoner of the length, breadth and depth of his own consciousness bullshit I was carrying water for this morning. (Do I contradict myself?) Because after all, if we don't have freedom...if we can't evolve...then what's the fuckin' use, anyway? And the idea that there IS a True Self towards which we can aspire is just the tits, right? Which, obviously, means that the Good Thief can sincerely repent at the 11th (plus) hour, that medical students who thought it was okay to put shoe polish on their faces can become good and moral men, etc., etc., etc.

Right?
