Louisville Free Public Library: Edgar Burroughs

I just checked my LFPL holds list--something I do on a regular basis, as I have a lot of books sent to my home library, which saves a lot of wear and tear on me and my car and is the only way to make sure that you get books that other people want, too--and I actually felt a thrill pass through me and an exclamation pass my lips, for I did see this:

The interlibrary loan came through! I mean, I had hopes . . . especially since LFPL had a copy of the equally difficult to find Marcia of the Doorstep . . . but I was (and am) pretty sure that the University of Louisville Library doesn't allow either of its two copies to circulate--especially so since that's what it says on their website . . . and the next closest place with a holding (according to World Cat) is Northern Kentucky University (82 miles away), and after that Columbus Metropolitan Library (183 miles away) or Cleveland Public Library (306 miles away) . . . but one of them came through, obviously. And pretty damned fast, too. I'm anxious to get my hands on the book to see where it came from. And, of course, anxious to read it.

And with that, all of ERB's books have come within my reach. Very exciting! And further proof that the public library is a Good Friend, indeed.

ADDENDUM: And today (2/16/17) I got a call from my library branch informing me that You Lucky Girl! had arrived. Alas, I've got a sick kid and can't / won't leave him, but it's CLOSE. The library really worked fast on this one.

ADDENDUM: And today (2/17/17)

And they went waaaay out of their way for this one: the sticker on the front tells me that this copy came from Barbara S Ponce Public Library in Pinellas Park, FL 33781 United States, which is 740 miles away. Wow. I am going to read the hell out of this book. Which shouldn't take long. There's a 3 page introduction by Danton Burroughs, a one page list of characters, and then the play starts on page 17 and ends on page 169, and there are 24 pages for pictures (only ten pictures, but there are blank pages on the backs and a two page picture in there), so it is only 153 pages long. And it's a play, so those pages aren't exactly packed with words, either.

I think ahmo go read it right now!
