I suppose that this isn't so profound, but I like the way Jo says it, and it immediately made me start thinking about this life thing in a new way. Especially with respect to people who live on the extremities of the social world, like monks or hermits. The fact that I just finished reading Striving Towards Being, which includes letters from Thomas Merton probably had nothing to do with my thoughts going in that direction.
