In fact, it would have made me want to puke just thinking about it.
But those were different times. In my New & Improved, 1773 Calories a Day Exercise 30 Minutes Per Day & Sometimes More Version, I decided that it would probably be a good idea to get a couple more servings of vegetables into my gullet. And this Kroger version of V-8 (Kroger Low Sodium Vegetable Juice) promised me TWO SERVINGS of vegetables in 8 ounces of that viscous juice for a mere 50 calories. So I thought I'd give it a try.
The first round wasn't great, but it was tolerable. So I had another round the next day. And the next. And the next. And today I actually . . . looked forward to drinking it . . . and enJOYed when I did put it down my hatch.
Hmmpf.
The times they are a-changin' for sure. I wonder what comes next?
And BTW, fooducate.com rates this Kroger V# as Top Product in its category (thus beating out V8, which is kinda ironic, ennit?), and webbed.com says that V-Juice is the Best Juice to Drink, and comments thusly: "Best Choice: Vegetable Juice.
Drinking your veggies is convenient and good for you. The lycopene in tomato juice may help lower the risk of prostate cancer. Beet juice may help curb blood pressure. Pulpy vegetable juice has some fiber (but not as much as raw vegetables); and fiber cuts hunger. You also get far less sugar and fewer calories than in the typical fruit juice. Check the sodium, though, or choose a low-salt version." (http://www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slideshow-juice-wars)
So there it is.
