Victor Hugo's  Les Misérables turns 155 years old today. Read it & you will weep.

Also, I just read a review of a new book The Novel of the Century: The Extraordinary Adventure of Les Misérables by David Bellos which looks like a must read. I put a request in to the library for it, but also read the Amazon preview because I was impatient for a look. Reading the preview made me more impatient. Might have to spend some money here.
