And I've been reading the Forges of Mars Omnibus for about a month now. Just sippin' it, you know, not chugging. And I have to admit that I really love the descriptions of the gigantic spaceships and intricate doings of the Adeptus Mechanicus and their brethren. In fact, so taken was I with the Adeptus Mechanicus group, of whose existence I do not think I previously knew, that I have already ordered another omnibus: Adeptus Mechanicus (Warhammer 40,000) by Rob Sanders.
But . . . um . . . that still wasn't enough. So I've been poking around on The Black Library site, as I previously mentioned, and I put an Adeptus Mechanicus T-shirt in the WARGEAR basket (I liked the design on a yellow shirt, so it looks something like this:
).
And I've also been eyeing this limited edition book called Warlord: Fury of the God-Machine (Adeptus Titanicus) by David Annandale. I don't know shit about either the author or the book or the group of soldiers that this book is about . . . but it just looks so fucking pretty. It's a limited edition thing--only 1,250 copies published, and "fewer than 300" copies left for the buying as of this writing--and it's got this very nice cover in black with silver and yellow foil, and the page edges are a yellowy marble-ish color, and there are two bookmarks bound in (one yellow, one black), and there and cool endpapers, and it's signed by the author, and . . . and . . . . Oh my.
These The Black Library dudes are geniuses. Limited editions, tons of books (The Horus Heresy is about to release its 43 book! Just keeping up with that one aspect of the Warhammer 40,000 Universe would be a full time job) . . . audio only releases, omnibuses, several different editions of the same books. Yep, they really know how to do this. And I didn't even mention the game stuff itself, since I know nothing about that. Oh, and the comic books. And the one movie. (They really should get into that business more.) And . . . and . . . . Oh my.
Those guys are geniuses.
But why do I feel drawn to this shit?
