As I've noted elsewhere, The Misty Mountain String Band really kicks big fat ass. Kicks it until those empty pants are flapping in the wind like a loose mail sail in a hurricane.
And I've just found a concert they did for WFPK on SoundCloud, and since they officially offer an embed code, here you go:
Playlist:
"Boxcar Moon" (from Brownsboro)
"Went to the Well" (from Went to the Well)
"Coal Pockets" (from Went to the Well)
"Steam Powered Aero Plane" (from Brownsboro)
"Ship in a Bottle" (from Brownsboro)
"River's End" (from Brownsboro) *
Interview with the band
"Everlasting Arms" (from Brownsboro)
"Caged Bird" (from Brownsboro) *
"The Long Haul" (from Brownsboro) *
"Story of My Life" (a Social Distortion song which does not appear
on any album; this works amazingly well as a bluegrass tune,
but you should really seek out the original version, which is punk
rock-ish, to get the full effect)
"Canaan" (from Went to the Well) */2
"Mink Shoals" (from Went to the Well)
Went to the Well EP, June 7, 2013
Brownsboro CD, August 8, 2014
The Misty Mountain String Band is . . .
Neal Green / Fiddle
Derek Harris / Bass and Lead Vocals
Paul Martin / Banjo and Mandolin and Lead Vocals on *
Brian Vickers / Guitars
BTW, the band's third release, Red Horizon, was released May 27, 2016, so none of those (superb) songs are in the WFPK live show. It's also not available on Bandcamp, but you can get it from Amazon (of course).
Also BTW, at least a piece of this concert is available on video on YouTube. I also spotted pieces of their show on Red Barn (((((Radio))))) Live, but it doesn't look like anyone has put up the whole show of either. The Red Barn (((((Radio))))) show has some songs that aren't in the WFPK show, and a couple of songs--"No Complaints" & "Jerusalem Ridge"--which aren't on any of the albums. Speaking of which, at one point in the WFPK concert Derek refers to videos for The Misty Mountain Band covers of Rush's "Limelight" and Hall & Oates's "You Make My Dreams Come True," but I couldn't find them, so maybe they no longer exist Out There. Let me know if you find 'em.
I think it's always best to buy straight from the band's website (so as to maximize their profit), and if'n you want to you can get all three albums on cd for a mere $33 from TMMSB Merchandise page (which includes $8 for shipping). If that's just slightly rich for you, you can get all of them from Amazon on mp3 for $24.92. But if you want to go vinyl, the only album available in that format (so far as I can discern) is Brownsboro from the band's page, and it will cost you $15 + $6 = $21. Ahmo go for that. (That's a sale price, though, so don't wait too long to decide. In fact, you might as well just go ahead and do it now, right?)
