The Black Guy Did It OR Thank You, Stephen King

Watching Morning Joe this morning whilst having my morning Joe, I was, once again, amazed at the veritable flood of stupidity geysering out of The White House.  (Emphasis on the White.)

The latest bit of geyser shit: "Obama put a tapp* on my phones."

The guy who sat next to President Obama, looking like a naughty schoolboy, the guy who talked about what an honor it was to meet President Obama, who he described as "a very good man," is now claiming that the former president is a "bad (or sick) guy."

And despite the complete lack of evidence to support Trump's Tapp claim, there seem to be people who believe him. How could that possibly be?

Well, there's no lack of stupidity out there, for sure. But I think there's more than stupidity at work here. To me, it's looking like it really comes down to fear of the Black Man. Nothing new there, of course. We are a nation founded upon and sustained by hatred of non-white people, and Black people have been the targets of white wrath for several hundred years. And to the people who embody that racism, Obama was the epitome of fearsomeness.

Stephen King has brilliantly (and with humor) been on that theme in a series of tweets.

"Not only did Obama tap Trump's phones, he stole the strawberry ice cream out of the mess locker."
Of course, the humor doesn't dissipate, mitigate, or fumigate the stench of Trump's stupidity and hatred . . . but it's something I sure need right now.

So thanks, Stephen. You've got a good reason to keep on keepin' on.
